Actionstep Implementation & Migration Partner
Moving to Actionstep is a big change. We make it an easy one.
As your Actionstep implementation partner, we guide your implementation from scoping to go-live: designing your workflows, overseeing your data migration, working with Actionstep on your behalf, and training your team, so your firm gets the most out of it.
A powerful platform deserves a careful rollout
Actionstep can automate a lot of your firm’s work: matter workflows, document assembly, legal accounting. Getting there means decisions about every practice group, every matter type and every role. That can feel like a lot when your team is already busy serving clients.
Is Actionstep the right fit for your firm?
It tends to suit mid-size firms that:
- Run high volumes of similar matters and want step-by-step workflows
- Want practice management and legal accounting in one platform
- Value strong document automation and reporting
Not sure? Our Law Firm Technology Audit compares Actionstep, Clio and LEAP against your actual requirements.
What does an Actionstep implementation partner do?
An Actionstep implementation partner works alongside Actionstep’s own team to make sure your setup fits how your firm practises. Actionstep’s onboarding team handles the platform and data conversion. We design your matter workflows and templates, set up trust and legal accounting to your law society or state Bar Association rules, check the converted data, and train each role, so your lawyers, assistants and accounting staff all know what changes for them.
Decisions to make before your Actionstep go-live
Actionstep is highly configurable, which is why it pays to decide these early:
- Matter types and workflow steps for each practice group
- Document templates and precedents, and which to automate first
- Chart of accounts, trust and billing setup, including invoice layouts
- User roles and permissions
- What history to migrate and what to archive
- Integrations with Microsoft 365, Outlook and your other tools
- The reports your partners need on day one
What changes for each role
- Lawyers: time capture inside the matter, and workflow steps that prompt the next task
- Assistants: document assembly from templates instead of copy-and-paste
- Accounting: trust and general ledger in one place, with reconciliations built in
- Managing partners: firm-wide reporting on WIP, billing and matter progress

6 steps from scoping to confident go-live
