0:00 Hi, this is Celene and this video is on how to create a flat fee or fixed fee invoice, also sometimes called a block fee in Leap legal.
0:11 So, what you’re gonna want to do is you’re gonna want to get to the accounting tab of the matter screen.
0:18 This will come up automatically when you create a new matter. If you’re already in your matter, what you’re gonna do is you’re just gonna right click here, open matter details.
0:27 So when you create your matter, this screen automatically comes up anyway. You’re just gonna want to click on this accounting tab and then right down here, there’s a flat fee option.
0:37 And what it says is a value will be applied to the first invoice on the matter, then they’re gonna add packs on top of that.
0:43 So what you can do then is put in your flat fee. Hit, okay, you’re gonna need to save the matter.
0:52 If you try to go to another tab it’ll prompt you to save for Burdless. And you still need to add in your your time entries, any kind of fee entries, what it’s going to do.
1:00 Whatever it might be, just so you have a billing description. So let’s just say, you know, I think this is a divorce.
1:11 So we’ll set it in, you know, $1,000 for divorce, corporation. And you say you can do multiple things in like various amounts of you can just have, you know, $5,000 like the amount of your flat fee.
1:31 It it doesn’t matter too much anyway. You, in this case, it doesn’t matter if you set it to billable or not billable because it is a fluffy.
1:41 If you are including this personments in your flat fee, when you go just on your general accounting expense recoveries and you’re adding this personance, make sure you set them as not billable.
1:53 So let’s just pretend we do some, I don’t know, working. This allows you to record expensive. Expenses that are matter related for your general ledger, but without having them build the client.
2:07 Let’s just say there, I don’t know, $10 each. So if they’re not billable, they won’t go in your invoice because sometimes you have a flat fee with this person on top.
2:16 So I’m going to have to do a a flat fee. So I’m going to create our invoice. So from any one of these tabs, there’s a new invoice button here.
2:35 I’ll just create it from here. New invoice. You’ll notice that it is $5,000, $600 tax and then it’s 5600 total.
2:50 If you, because the flat fee automatically applies tax on top of it, regardless of whether you include tax here it’s going to be $5600.
3:09 In that case, what you would do is you would probably just the easiest ways to for go the flat fee setting and just put in your fee and for basically for the amount.
3:20 You can still log your time. If you want your time to show up, you just market is application settings. Just under layout here.
3:53 If you want your unbelable time included on an invoice, you’ll just make sure that’s checked off some some firms prefer having a list of all their kind of time issues that could be spent on a matter even if it’s fluffy.
4:05 Sometimes they just want the flat fee there and they might track their time just for like reporting or internal purposes, but they don’t want it showing the invoice.
4:13 So that’s that’s where you can update that setting as well. So hope that helped in getting a fixed fee invoice set up on Leap Legal!
